If you purchase the equipment upfront, you can pay as little as $29.99 per month for professional monitoring, as Vivint doesn’t offer a free self-monitoring option. But when measured against similar high-tech systems, Vivint prices are par for the course, especially considering the features and technology. You can read more about Vivint’s features and tech in our full Vivint review here. Some low-cost providers will offer cut-rate equipment for free, but lock you in to contracts with unreliable notifications or apps that are hard to use. Other providers charge for hardware only, but offer no monitoring services, leaving you on your own to see what’s going on at your property. Understanding alarm system prices is more than just getting security camera quotes – you need to understand the whole package.
The panel's size and shape feels a bit clunky, but the interface is simple and easy to navigate. The SkyControl panel can run on backup battery power and a cellular connection, so it will continue to work when your power or Wi-Fi goes out. We tested several of Vivint's products at the CNET Smart Home where Rich, our Vivint Smart Home pro, installed our devices and ensured everything was running smoothly.
What is Apple HomeKit?
With this combination, Vivint will secure your home and family while simplifying your life. The smartthings adt home security starter kit also works with smart devices from the following brands. For $10 per month or $100 per year, you'll get 60 days of live and recorded video for an unlimited number of cameras. Those cameras aren't included in the basic security system package, but Ring's doorbells and cameras are competitively priced, starting at $179. The $199 security kit is available for preorder now and ships in November. You'll get a base, a keypad, two sensors and one motion detector. While that's very expensive for a 1TB drive, 30-day continuous recording for four cameras is included.

Finally, Vivint requires professional installation that costs $99 for all plans and packages. From what we’ve seen, this cost is standard in the industry and certainly not a deal-breaker. After all, having your system installed by a professional technician will ensure everything is set up and networked properly. Given its features, it’s not shocking to see Vivint’s premium pricing on packages and plans.
That’s expensive, considering SimpliSafe’s cheapest packages cost about $200. That premium experience, however, comes at a premium price, and today, we’ll discuss exactly how much a Vivint system costs. But first, here’s a quick background on Vivint and how it’s paving the way for the future of home security.

Simply leveraging Quality.
We liked the app, but we didn’t find anything ultra innovative about it compared to other companion apps we’ve tested. Vivint cameras are some of the best cameras around, particularly the Outdoor Camera Pro. The resolution is set at 1080p, but it has a 4K image sensor with HDR that is excellent at capturing smaller details. The software is another great thing about the camera, as it uses artificial intelligence to detect and ward off would-be intruders. It can also shut off your HVAC system to starve a fire of oxygen.
The outdoor camera works much like a traditional security camera and you can view it via the app or panel. All three of these cameras include night vision and mobile alerts and record 20-second video clips when motion is detected. The Smart Complete Bundle comes with all of the home automation devices and video cameras listed in the above bundles and packages. It makes sense for people who want to install state-of-the-art home security and automation.
We like that the Car Guard can trigger lights and cameras in your home in reaction to thieves breaking into your car. If a shifty stranger stands in view of the camera, your camera will start recording and emit a tone or whistle to tell them they’re being watched. We haven’t seen anything like it from other security cameras, giving Vivint a top spot in our rankings for best home security system. Vivint is one of the only security companies to sell a garage door opener. Most brands just have tilt sensors or require you to connect a third-party brand on your own. If you’re looking for a surveillance-heavy security system, you may be familiar with the lag that comes with adding lots of cameras to your home Wi-Fi network.
Vivint Home Security Systems use professional monitoring on all systems, making sure that customers are monitored and safe even when they cannot watch for notifications or see video. Customers can rely on professional monitors to contact emergency personnel as needed. Vivint is a great choice for security that includes home monitoring, intrusion protection, connection to emergency services, along with smoke and carbon monoxide detection. For those customers who want automation and customization, Vivnt offers products for that as well.
With that said, the interest-free, 60-month financing does reduce the price to a more reasonable $29.83 per month. If you’d rather customize your entire system, we recommend purchasing Vivint’s Starter Kit and adding equipment as you go. This bundle packs quite a punch, and it’s hands-down one of our favorites from Vivint. On top of everything in the starter kit, the Video Security Bundle includes the Vivint video doorbell, Outdoor Camera Pro, and indoor camera. If you’re in the market for cameras anyway, you’ll save over $100 by choosing this bundle.
